One ingredient, five products: Cucumber extract in a toner

Cucumber extract is a great addition to a toner as it behaves as an emollient and hydrator to our products. It can behave as an astringent ingredient, so it's great for oily skin, and it offers moisturizing through those polysaccharides, so it can be great for dry skin as well.

You can make an awesome toner with just cucumber extract. This would be a great general toner for any skin type. We're using 0.5% powdered cucumber extract in the cool down phase, but you could use up to 10% liquid cucumber extract in the cool down phase if you wished instead.

BASIC POWDERED CUCUMBER EXTRACT TONER
HEATED PHASE
99% distilled water

COOL DOWN PHASE
0.5% powdered cucumber extract
0.5% liquid Germall Plus (or preservative of choice)

OR

BASIC LIQUID CUCUMBER EXTRACT TONER
HEATED PHASE
89.5% distilled water

COOL DOWN PHASE
10% liquid cucumber extract
0.5% liquid Germall Plus

Heat the distilled water and let it cool down to 45˚C. Add the powdered extract or liquid extract and liquid Germall Plus (or preservative of choice). Stir well. Cool down to room temperature, then pour into a bottle for use. I like to use a spray bottle or mister so I can spray it on my face, but feel free to use any clean and unused bottle with any kind of cap.

Join me tomorrow as we have fun formulating a more ingredient filled toner using cucumber extract!
