Newbie Tuesday - update

If you want to play along with Newbie Tuesday and make a lotion on the 24th, here are a few substitutions you can make if your supplies aren't in on time...

Oil - Yes, you can get oils from the grocery store! (Click here for that post.)

Butter - You can generally get cocoa butter at the health food store or some ethnic stores. You can definitely get coconut oil at Indian grocery stores.

Humectant - Although we're not using a humectant for these recipes (yet!), you can get glycerin from the drug store or use honey (if you are preserving the product well) in a pinch!

Everything else, you will have to get from your local supplier.

If you look to your right, you'll see my frequently asked questions, and at the bottom, you'll see a list of suppliers for your continent! Click on those (and don't forget to read the comments, as the best information is there!) and you'll find someone near you!

Have fun formulating! See you next week!

To use honey as a humectant, does "preserving the product well" mean using the higher amount of preservative in the formula?

Yes, using the maximum amount and ensuring that you do all the heating and holding and other good manufacturing practices!

Very efficiently written information. It will be helpful to everyone who will use it, including me. Keep doing what you are doing .

Hi Methew! Why the spam? Is your store or selection so poor you have to lure people there unsuspecting it. For shame! I shall never allow another mention of your store on this blog again!
